Nomination and Election Notice

Members of SEIU Local 5, which includes Arizona, Texas and Virginia (VAPCA), have an opportunity to participate in this year’s SEIU Local 5 elections.  Members of Local 5 will nominate and vote for a Local 5 President, Secretary-Treasurer and a State Director for their state.  These officers will also serve as delegates to future SEIU Conventions.  Members of local 5 will be also vote to ratify a new Local Constitution.

Nominations

You may nominate yourself or another member of SEIU Local 5. To be nominated and run for office, you must have been a dues-paying member of SEIU Local 5 in continuous good standing for the past 60 days.

Each person being nominated must collect 5 signatures, which may include their own, from members eligible to vote in the election for their office.  To nominate yourself or someone else, fill out the form available at here     (en espanol, aqui  )  and return it, with your five signatures, by August 22, 2008 to:

All nominations must be received at the address above by no later than 5:00 p.m., August 22, 2008 EDT.

Election
The Election will take place by mail ballot.  Following the nomination process, all SEIU members in good standing will receive a ballot to vote.  All Local 5 members in good standing as of July 18, 2008 may vote.    Ballots must be received by mail no later than 5:00 p.m. on September 27, 2008 EST.
